09Sep By AdminSeptember 10, 2024Memories of Utsho Almost 17 years ago right after our eldest son Gawhon was born, we were looking for a Social Organization that we can support, which is true to the cause of underprivileged children. This is when we got introduced to UTSHO Bangladesh, and it indeed turned out to be a ‘Love at First Sight’! We started the journey when we organized the ‘Annoprashon’ (Rice-feeding ceremony) of Gawhon by introducing Utsho to our family and friends, and also requesting them to donate to Utsho instead of buying any gift for our son. Everyone really appreciated this and generously donated to Utsho. My first visit to Utsho’s Nurer Chala school is still a wonderful memory for me. The little children, full of hope, joy and confidence, welcomed us and our 6-month-old child with a chorus song of Tagore – ‘Aaloker Ei Jhornadharay Dhuiye Daao’ – and, I instantly decided to be a part of this beautiful endeavor that indeed nurtures a true sense of equality in every impoverished child. Since 2008, we started working with Utsho as Volunteers primarily for fundraising, and we also made it a practice to spend the birthdays of both our sons along with the children of Utsho by organizing picnics, movie screening, magic shows etc. for them. Eventually both my husband and I took up functional roles in the Executive Committee in different terms to lend our skills and time for the betterment of the organization and the children. The passion of this group of unbelievably dedicated people working tirelessly behind Utsho is absolutely contagious; and you truly start believing that every bit of effort counts. I’m extremely proud that Utsho is already celebrating 30 years of spreading happiness, and we hope to be able to continue our humble efforts in serving this wonderful organization.
